For a woman it's more like 7#. The protein is mainly to maintain the current lean protein profiles while growth occurs.debhttp://weightfordeb.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2119784115790430160.post-85939515195021022862009-03-31T12:39:00.000-07:002009-03-31T12:39:00.000-07:00I'll look into his work further, but it certainly ...I'll look into his work further, but it certainly goes against pretty much EVERY trainers view of 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight!
Most of waht I've read states that muscle growth is generally considered to only occur when the body is in positive nitrogen balance too, so this leads to protein consumption again being a major factor?Mark Raynsford PThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17527573841801145779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2119784115790430160.post-11681217469958358882009-03-31T09:46:00.000-07:002009-03-31T09:46:00.000-07:00Thanks Jon, great article and very relevant. The issue of whether I'm eating enough protein is something I've been toying with for a while. 120g+ of protein per day seems like a lot to me, particularly when I have no interest in protein shakes and bars so would only get it from whole foods. Will be looking into Pilon's work.
Cheers
OwenAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
